Improving Practice
Processes
This plan was made up by a group of Practice Managers after
some discussion on how to create a good topic for practice sessions. The theme is bloods but we feel this could be applied to almost any process within your practice.
Bloods
Facilitator: Practice Manager
- Outcomes – whole team discuss what you want to get out of session (15 mins)
- Reduce workload for doctors/admin
- Reduce risk (lost tests)
- Create one mapped process for all to work with
- Review of Current Processes – small groups of 4-6 people (30mins)
- Map process with post-it notes as it works at present and then bring together creating flowchart
- Identify Risk Areas (pitfalls) – one group – get everyone to put up 3 ideas each of an area in the process they think is a problem (30 mins)
- Break (15 mins)
- How to Improve Processes – small groups (30 mins)
- Identify changes
- Discuss how you are going to implement
- Summarise
- r/v outcomes (did you achieve what was in 1)
- make final new process/pathway

- What have you learned today?
- What are you going to do now, as result of this session
